Looooooooooooooooooooooooong time, no see…
Since we last spoke many many many things have happened, here is a list:
– Mafalda has joined my ‘family’ (a 1996 Oldsmobile in old-lady gold)
– I moved again! Cutest walk-able East Bay town.
– More jobs applied/denied/accepted/quit/kept. Currently a florist and server.
– I got engaged. We are moving. Maybe I should change the title to ‘moving over’?
– My hair was short (for me), but it is long again. I want to dye it, but weddings aren’t the place for crazy hair I’ve been told.
– I bought clothing that cost more than my car (wedding dress!)
– My posture has gone to pieces… Aunty Joyce would be horrified.
That’s all for now, let us see if I can start keeping this up more as life is changing again.
(silly thing won’t let me post photos right now :/ )
Mostly moved in and settled to the new place.
Highlights of the weekend:
-getting away from the HEAT (triple digits 103 today at the new place)
-the bf met the parents and it went over great
-picked blackberries along the highway for an impromptu cobbler
-got champagne yeast to brew homemade sodas
-hike along the foggy coast
-more bday presents and cards…need to send the thank yous
-surviving Monday (yes, for me that counts as part of the weekend)
I have a job. Part time. Less than part time actually… $10/hr
I am moving to a new city on Friday. My rent is 1 paycheck for a postage stamp-sized room. No alcohol or guests allowed. 2 cats.
The bf might (probably) meet the parents this weekend. Yikes all around.
In short, I am headed to the unknown. Who knows where I will be or what I will be doing a month from now. Good luck where it should be I hope.
I have been sooooooo bad at keeping this up. But here are some new things I’ve done lately:
-watched my SSU friends graduate!
-babysat and loved it
-applied and been denied Food Stamps
-driven large vans over 300 miles
-received so many job rejections I cannot even count them
-gone camping with classmates in the mountains
-applied to so many jobs I cannot count them
-gone to a food pantry
-been ‘that person’ in a group project
-gone to the movies alone
Wow, it has been almost three months… Way too much to catch you up on. But a few awesome things so you don’t feel like you completely missed out:
-I survived Fall Quarter (barely) and had an amazing winter break
-I am officially activated into Sigma Alpha Sorority
-I am dating a boy that sings higher than me
-I have applied to jobs in SF, Zion, and Sac for after college already
-I dyed my hair blue last week
-I still have no job right now in town, though I’ve applied to at least three
A So Cal sunset from my last day there over break.
We are now in week 5 of the quarter! Today I only had my Beethoven class. We are working on piano concertos. I love it. The final for that class is on the very last day, a Saturday. I e-mailed the prof to see about taking it early to extend my Spring Break, and she was already planning on doing just that! Score.
I applied for graduation after class. And signed up to walk in June. Woot! So. Excited. And found all my classes for next quarter, only five right now. I’ll tell you what they are after I get into them tomorrow.
Mexican rice was attempted for dinner. I have no cumin. My Mexican rice was white! And it made so much! When I saw the (maybe) 3/4 cup of leftover rice I was afraid there wouldn’t be enough. It ended up making almost three cups! I was almost really sad because I thought I had no refried bean, but I found them in the end. The burrito was tasty with cheese, olives, and sour cream added. Caught up on some Glee while I ate. Dishes. Brownies! Bones. Fire Ecology research. Now bed! zzzz….
Great day! Leftover cozy biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast. Wore my fur coat on the ride to work and stayed nice and warm. Data entry, pumpkin cookies, meetings, and Picasa. (Look it up. It’s super cool.)
Then my baker twin from Santa Rosa got here! We went grocery shopping for about an hour and changed what we were going to bake about a million times and picked out lunch. Thank goodness for iPhones. We settled on Lavender Cupcakes with a Honey Buttercream Frosting and Penne with Balsamic Butter and Roasted Asparagus. But asparagus was expensive so we switched to broccoli and zucchini. And I only had fussili. We went back home for a tasty lunch of goat cheese brie with apricot jam on a French baguette, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and a lovely sliced Gravenstein apple. We watched Giada and Ina on Food Network while we ate.
Time for baking! The cupcakes were jam packed with lavender since we decided not to strain it out of our infused butter. And our frosting stayed liquidy. Sad day. We tried everything. I messaged the author. We’ll see.
The pasta was delicious! We made garlic toast also. And watched It Could Happen To You, a movie about a guy that wins the lottery and splits it with a waitress.
We washed many dishes! And had a great time catching up. We started a list of things to bake and make over Thanksgiving :) So excited!
Clarinet boy came by to pick her up and we all chatted a bit. I sent them home with cookies. Can’t wait to see them again next weekend!
Tea and Harry Potter to round out the evening (and avoid studying). Time for bed, so sleepy…
Happy voting day!
Woke up early to study for my midterm. Blech. I finished it early of course. Smuts in lab.
Went home for lunch and voting. Woot!
Stopped by the Dean’s Office between Physics and ENH 102 to drop off my grad check to make sure I can graduate in Spring.
Had a lovely nap after that in the sun on the grass :)
Left ENH 102 early to catch a ride to JoAnn’s to buy fabric and batting for our Orbits! I really like the one we picked.
Rush home to register for Winter Quarter classes. Physics 1B, Fire Ecology, Intro to Evolution, and Beethoven. Yeah, I rock.
Rush downtown to meet the roomie at the movies. Roomie date seeing Pitch Perfect. Loved it! Except the dumb vomiting parts. Completely unnecessary. I have been listening to the soundtrack nonstop since then. I’ve got the songs memorized now.
